A fleece or hoodie goes on over scrubs at the start of a shift and often stays on until you're back through your own front door. It goes everywhere you go, and it usually isn't washed as often as the scrubs underneath.
One mid-layer, one twelve-hour shift
In a hospital study of 135 nurses and physicians, 63% had potentially pathogenic bacteria on at least one part of their uniform, including drug-resistant organisms.1
A 2025 study found healthcare attire almost universally contaminated. Staphylococcus aureus turned up most often at the pockets.2
Whether uniform contamination leads to patient infections is still being studied. Where your mid-layer has been isn't.
Many antimicrobial garments rely on a finish applied to the surface of the fabric. SilverCore uses Ionic+™ Permanent by Noble Biomaterials: high-purity silver is bound into the polyester as the yarn is extruded, so the silver is part of the fibre itself.

Silver is blended into the polymer before it's spun, so every filament carries it through its full cross-section.
Positively charged silver ions are released at the fibre surface continuously, without shedding elemental silver.

No. SilverCore is clinical apparel. It isn't personal protective equipment, and it doesn't replace hand hygiene, PPE or your facility's infection prevention and control practices.
